Media offers you many different methods of child rearing, but one of the best practices in bringing up a child is to pray with them daily. Not only teaching them how to pray, but to pray with your children together and outloud so from good parenting prayers they can learn what is good and what is important in this life.
When to pray together with children and why this is a good child rearing practice.
At night time, when parents prepare their children to go to bed, it is a good parenting practice to say a nightly prayers together with parents or at least with one of the parents.
When children see and hear what the parent is praying about, they start giving those things important and value in their lives from childhood. Children mostly learn by imitating parents and adults.
When children hear good parenting prayers about repentance, forgiveness, a resolve to fight against evil desires, to love God and neighbor, they will also start from a childhood to give great importance to these values. They themselves will pray about these things rather than asking for material things in their lives, like toys, cars or money.
From an early age you want your child to learn how to fill sorry for the wrongs they have done, this will teach them repentance in their adulthood and is a good parenting investment you will make in your children. You want your child to learn how to forgive, how to to fight against his or her bad desires and so on. These things will help to be compassinate people when they grow up and learn patience: things we need so much in our society and lives today.
If you wait to teach them these things until they grow, two things will happen. The media, and their friends will be ahead of you and will teach them other things. But also their hearts will gradually harden with age and it will be nearly impossible to teach them about these good things.
Thus, if they see you praying about repentance and forgiveness out loud, they will act similarly in their prayers and thoughts. They thoughts will determine their lives.
Dear reader, if these lines spoke to your heart, please, share with your friends, so that more parents and adults teach children from childhood to learn to pray and pray the right way. So the real change grows in their lives from a childhood and parents continue good upbringing practices. When the disciples rebuked those who brought the children to the Lord Jesus, He was much indignant, and said unto them. “Let the children come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:14).
