Four Ways How To Get Rid of Bad Thoughts: Christian Perspective

God’s Word and the Holy Father teach us that we must consciously fight against bad and evil thoughts. We can’t get rid of bad thoughts if we leave them idle in our head.

How to get rid of bad thoughts Christian Perspective

Here are 4 ways to get rid of bad thoughts.

1. When bad thoughts rage, immediately tell God that you disagree with them. Repeatedly say, “Lord, I disagree with these thoughts. Help me to dispel them.”

2. When you watch TV or read news, be selective.
Choose carefully what info you are going to upload into your head and fill your memory. Negativity, violence and vanity will easily enter your memory, but getting rid of them will be very difficult.

3. When you are going to meet a friend, carefully consider the topics of your discussion. During those seemingly innocent meetings gossip and idle talk will easily fill up your discussion.

4. Remember, nature doesn’t indulge emptiness. If your memory is not filled with good thoughts, then it will be filled with bad and evil thoughts (Mat. 12:43-45).

Therefore, fill your memory with Psalms, prayers, studying the Word of God daily, care for people, good works, helping people and caring for them. Then you will see how the bad thoughts will subside.

Getting rid of bad thoughts is a spiritual struggle. The words of the Lord Jesus show that only the strong win in this battle and enter the kingdom of God (Matt. 11:12).
