Should You Continue To Love if The Love Is Not Mutual?

If you have done a favor to someone, forget about it. If someone has done a favor to you, always remember it. When I shared these words with my friends, one of them asked, but shouldn’t everything be mutual and reciprocated?

love selflessly

True and selfless love is the way of sustainable existence, teaches us our Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes, people whom we love, do not reciprocate that same level of love and good will. Yet, we are still called to love people as our selves.

Love even enemies

We are called to “love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matt. 5:44). This may be hard to do, but ask for grace from our Lord to act and think like this. Ask for grace, and at least as a beginning, try not to think anything negative about those who do not reciprocate your love. At least do not wish them anything negative.

If you have done a favor to someone, forget about it. If someone has done a favor to you, always remember it. If someone has hurt your feelings, forget it and forgive him/her. But if you have hurt someone’s feelings, then remember it, ask for forgiveness and repent for it.

As a result, you will change. The world around you will change. The people around you will change. And you will fulfill the commandment of God.

God, you are love. You are holy love. Ask the Lord for purity of heart. Dear people, endure tribulations. Live by the commandments and endure. Remember what our Lord ‎Jesus‬ endured. God will give you the strength and endurance to purify your hearts and win good life with Jesus.

Love selflessly.
