An amazing example of self-sacrifice took place in the Belorussian city of Vitebsk, located about 170 miles Northeast of the capital Minsk. A Police officer, seen in this video, saved a student’s life by shielding him from a being hit by a car with his body.
The incident occurred on March 2 around 5pm in Vietebsk. A teenage boy was crossing the street in an uncontrolled area. The video shows that two cars stopped and gave way to the body. At this point, a third car was coming in the same direction and didn’t stop. The child didn’t see the 3rd car coming and and was going to get under the wheels if not the heroic action of the policeman behind him.
Officer Sergey Batalko at this time was returning home after his duty and was crossing the street behind the boy, reports Pravoslavie.fm. Seeing an emergency situation, the policeman showed an example of self-sacrifice: he grabbed the child from a backpack, pulled back and covered him from an impact with his body.
As a result, he himself was hit by the car, got some bruises and was provided medical care without the need of hospitalization. The boy escaped the impact with only slight shock and hurt.
Good to see acts of selfless love still happening in our world. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13
