Our sins are killing us. Leading a wrong way of life day after day adds wounds to ourselves. Sin harms our own self, and there is limit how much ourselves can bear that negativity. See what a grave warning the Lord Jesus Christ tells the Pharisees if we do not live with true faith and resit sinful passions, thoughts and works.
In John 8 he is talking to the Jews. He tells them, listen, “I am the light of the world,” if you do not follow me you will walk in the darkness. People don’t take this seriously and call His testimony invalid (John 8:13). But look how serious and lovingly concerned Jesus is about our lives and well being. With great fervor He continues, saying “you have no idea where I come from” (8:14), but listen, “I am going away…” “I have much to say.” Please, pay attention, you are dying. This is a warning and you must listen to this and believe in me so you may have life. “You would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins” (8:24).
Do you hear how emotional are the accents in His words? Stay awake and watch for your selves. Use the time given to you the best you can. Love, is the law of the life. The rule of existence is to love God and to love one another: truly, selflessly and without expectations.
Jesus is the Word of God. The Logos (in Greek). St. Maximus the Confeesor writes.
The Logos came down out of love for us. Let us not keep Him down permanently, but let us go up with Him to the Father, leaving the earth and earthly things behind, lest He say to us what He said to the Jews because of their stubbornness: ‘I go where you cannot come’ (John 8:21). For without the Logos it is impossible to approach the Father of the Logos.
Make yourself strangers to sin and believe in the name of Jesus.
